Adult Hearing Test in Dhaka: Comprehensive Hearing Assessment

Hearing impairment affects more than your ability to hear. It affects your conversations, your confidence and your quality of life. At MARS Hearing & Health, our adult hearing test in Dhaka is the first step toward understanding your hearing and building a care plan that helps you communicate at your best and live life on your terms.

Signs You May Need an Adult Hearing Test

Hearing loss often develops slowly, so friends and family may notice it before you do. Consider a hearing test if you:

  • Often ask people to repeat themselves
  • Struggle to follow conversations in noisy places like restaurants or gatherings
  • Turn the TV or phone volume higher than others prefer
  • Find it hard to understand voices on the phone
  • Have ringing or buzzing in your ears (see Tinnitus Therapy)
  • Work around loud noise (see our Industrial Hearing Test)

Sudden hearing loss needs urgent medical attention. Don’t wait, contact a doctor or our team right away.

Our Adult Hearing Assessment: Step by Step

Step 1: The Examination

Our audiologist takes a close look inside your ear to check whether your hearing difficulty could be caused by an obstruction or damage to the ear canal or eardrum. We use an otoscope or video otoscope to inspect your outer ear.

Step 2: Hearing Tests

A comprehensive hearing exam is painless and is always conducted by a qualified audiologist. Key components include:

  • Otoscopy: A visual examination of the ear canals. Our video otoscopes let you see inside your own ears.
  • Audiometry: Done in a sound-treated booth, it assesses your ability to hear various sounds in each ear. Speech testing checks both your ability to detect speech and to understand it, in quiet and in background noise. Learn more about Pure Tone Audiometry and our Speech Test.
  • Tympanometry: A quick test that needs no response from you. It evaluates the pressure in the middle ear and the mobility of the eardrum and middle ear bones, and is a strong indicator of several medical conditions.
  • Oto-acoustic emissions (OAE): Assesses the sensory hearing cells in the inner ear and needs no response from you. See our OAE Test page.

Not every test is needed for every person. Your audiologist chooses what suits your situation. See all options on our Hearing Test page.

Understanding Your Results

Your results are shown on an audiogram, a graph of the softest sounds you can hear at different pitches. In general, hearing is classed as normal up to about 25 dB, then mild, moderate, moderately severe, severe or profound as levels rise. Your audiologist will explain what your results mean for you in simple language. A hearing test isn’t a pass-or-fail exam. It’s a clear picture of your hearing.

How Often Should Adults Get Tested?

A common guideline is a hearing test about every 10 years until age 50, and about every 3 years after that. Test sooner if you notice any changes.

After Your Hearing Test

Depending on your results, your audiologist may recommend monitoring, further testing, medical referral or hearing support. If a hearing aid is advised, you can start with a free hearing aid consultation, try one with a free hearing aid trial, and have it set up through digital hearing aid fitting. For severe to profound loss, learn about Cochlear Implants, and for later care, our hearing aid repair & service.
